Deeplingo ("we", "us", "our") operates the website and platform at deeplingo.ca. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian privacy laws.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account information: Name and email address provided at registration.
- Test data: Your answers, scores, AI feedback, time spent, and test history.
- Audio recordings: Voice recordings submitted during Speaking practice tests, used solely to generate AI feedback and then discarded.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and session duration — collected via server logs and analytics.
- Payment information: Billing details processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
- Communications: Messages you send us via the contact form or email.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Deeplingo platform.
- Generate AI-powered feedback on your practice tests.
- Track your progress and display analytics on the Progress page.
- Process payments and manage your subscription.
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts).
- Respond to support requests and inquiries.
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
4. Data Sharing
We share your data only with trusted service providers that help us operate the platform, under strict data processing agreements:
- Anthropic: AI evaluation of your test responses (text and audio). Data is processed per Anthropic's API privacy terms and not used to train their models.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Cloud infrastructure and database storage (DynamoDB, S3).
- Stripe: Payment processing.
- Vercel: Frontend hosting.
We may also disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Deeplingo or its users.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Test results and progress data are retained for 24 months after your last activity, after which they are deleted. Audio recordings are processed in real-time and are not stored beyond the evaluation session. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies only — these are required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may prevent you from logging in.
7. Your Rights
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Withdraw consent to processing where consent is the legal basis.
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required by law.
9. Children's Privacy
Deeplingo is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
